Why
should we have our own Resolution/Sankalpa?
It is a very common experience that every year new
resolutions are made and the very next day they are broken. The chain of
make-break seems endless. Also there seems to be quite a bit of confusion about
choosing the right resolution. One tends to follow the masses than choosing the
right one.
Bhagwad Gita has a profound answer on this
dilemma. Chapter 18, 46th shloka says, ‘From whom this universe
has originated and who encompasses it wholly, worship him with the flowers of
duties and attain liberation.’
By accepting that God has created this
world (and hence me), and by respecting his plan and following it, is the best
possible worship of God.
Howsoever lucrative/attractive other’s duties may
look; we should stick to and do our duty. Sant Dhyaneshwar explains, Ghee may
have better qualities than water but fish cannot survive in it. Similarly
whatever work I have chosen / which comes to me naturally, I will do as a
worship of God.
Bhagawan Sri Krishna has given us a simple
and effective way of walking on the path of Dharma and thus attaining a major
milestone which eludes even a highly intelligent person.
So, let us resolve this New Year that whatever tasks I
have chosen or my duties are, I will perform whole heartedly and as a worship
of the Almighty. This ‘Sankalpa’ itself has the means and potential to take it
to its completeness.
